PWS3 won't export back to Photoshop CS 5.1

Hi, recenlty upgraded from PWP Pro 2.1 to 3.0 and not having much success.  I did experience a couple crashes, but my main problem is saving the image back to photoshop.  About 99% of the time, it won't transfer the image to photoshop (I really can't remember if it worked once).  It will say it's rendering the full image which takes a few seconds, then it will go back to render the preview with the gray striped bar moving at 0% forever.  The program is still responsive, but if it click the Abort button, it will freeze up and I have to terminate it.  I uninstalled both 3.0 and 2.1 and reinstalled 3.0 and still have the same problem. I'm running on WIndows 7 64-bit with 16GB of memory and an Intel I7 quad core with 8 threads and Photoshop CS 5.1.  I never really had any issues with version 2.1. My workflow goes from Lightroom 3 to Photoshop to PWS.  I did create a PWS  export menu for Lightroom 3 that works, but I really need to go through photoshop to do other filter work first.  (as a side note, I didn't think going from LR was working because it was stuck rendering at 75% of the image and after a couple of minutes was about to terminate it because nothing was moving, then all of a sudden it started moving forward and finished - I would suggest putting the animated gray bars during the rendingering of the save dialog so you know something is happening) Is anybody else having this kind of issue?

It works for me (with the same PC configuration as yours), so you are doing something differently. Could you please describe the details?

What is your image size? (in pixels please)

Which style do you use?

Are you in the simple or in the advanced layout?

Is the 1:1 preview scale button highlighted in orange or you work in preview size (1:1 button grayed)?

Do you hit the "Render and quit" or the "Render and stay in memory for the next plugin job" button?

Thanks,

Bela

Same Issue

I am running Mac OSX Lion with CS5.1 and experience the same issue. It doesn’t freeze or crash, but it does not render the image after going through all the motions - just leaves photo as the original. Ideas?

You did not mention it, but

You did not mention it, but do you paint something that you want to send back to Photoshop or it is just simple filter usage?

It looks like there is a problem with sending back painted images, but filters should work.

Working now!?

I came back tonight to see if there were any solutions and then went to reproduce the problem and now PWS works fine!?  I tried several different filters without issue - I just use simple filter conversions at the time. I was doing conversions on about 20 megapixals in the simple layout and just doing a render and return and 1:1.  Maybe after the first time it messed up for whatever reason and had to be terminated, it blocked the communications with Photoshp? I think I had to restart my computer since the original post, so maybe that had to be done to clean up some installation issues?  If the situation should change, I will follow up... Thanks!

Still having problems, but I think I found the bug...

Well, I thought everything was fine after my last post, but later in the day I used PWS and, again, couldn't export to Photoshop.  I tried restarting Photoshop and my computer but neither worked.  Then I tried changing the layout from Simple to Classic and it worked again.  So apparently, it has something to do with generating all those preview thumbnails, which I really like.  But looks like I won't be able to use them until it's fixed..  :( -james

Does not save rendering back to Photoshop

System: Apple Powerbook - OS 10.7.3              iMac - OS 6.5PWS - 3.0.4  64bit Using Photoshop Plugin: layer is sent to PWS, filters are applied and then rendered, however the image rendering does not show up in PS. I have tried this on both the laptop and desktop and still the same results. Using different filters makes no difference. Starting with different file formats changes nothing (ie DNG, tiff, jpeg, PSD).

Same issue and changing layout has no effect

I'm sharing the same issue on a Mac with Lion and PS CS5.1. Jst want to add to the discussion that for me it makes no difference which layout (simple, classic, advanced) I choose. Sometimes it just works, most times not.

I am actually having the same

I am actually having the same issue using the 64 bit PC PWS3 installation. It used to work and then stopped exporting back to PS this past week. I figured I would look here before sending in the bug report. This is really hurting my post processing.  :(

I think I just figured out

I think I just figured out what the issue may be on my system. The layer in Photshop that you are creating, running the Plug In, editing in PWS, and exporting back needs to either be: Needs to be the top most layer in your layer panel and/or Named something different than "Background Copy"  (I need to verify this on a new image)

PWP won't export back to CS6

PWP worked fine with 64-bit CS5 but will not export back to 64-bit CS6. Other plug-ins are working fine. I'm running Windows 7 with 16GB of memory. Any ideas?

Bug still in latest version.

I upgraded to 3.0.4990 a couple of weeks ago and everything has been fine in classic view.   Today I tried the simple layout again and PWP still fails to export to PS 5.1 on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system with 16GB or RAM.  It goes through the motions of rendering, but does not export back to Photoshop.<p> FYI, Also noticed when you mouse over the Classic View and Simple View icons, the tool tip always states the current view.  So if you are in classic view and point to the simple view icon, the tool tip says Classic view.  And if you're in simple view and mouse over the classic view icon, the tool tip says simple view.  The Advanced view icon always shows advance view.
